Mentioned it on the match thread in the weekend, but thought it may be worth saying again.

It was damn nice to see the Lions making Ethan Adams the focal point of a good few set plays at the weekend.

They had him joining the lineout with the intention being that he would receive the ball from the top and have the space to build up some steam before the oppo backs could get to him. Also noticed two other backline plays where they tried to set him up for some thunder.

None of those amounted ti a great deal, but that's not the point.

The point is, Cash has signalled to other youngsters out there that if you come to the Lions, he'll give you a chance to shine. And I love that mentality and I can only imagine how good a kid must feel when he's just starting his big boy career and a coach puts that much faith him. It's d theme, because despite disappointing mostly, Batho was given ample starts and chances last season under Cash. The message being, come to the Lions and you'll play.

JP must get an honourable mention for doing the same with Moyo and Gili, and I also love that, despite a few errors this past weekend, that faith has been vindicated by two good performances thus far.

Hey...when do we think Muller will be getting his next cap at the Stormers? How about Norton?

Pity I couldn't watch the game, but it's nice to see a player being employed to utilize his strengths. Adams, much like a guy like AE, should always have a dude on his shoulder for the offload as they tend to engage multiple defenders.

The Stormers should move on from Ruhan Nel. Let's be honest, the guy is a competent but ageing journeyman who has no edge on any other 13 in the top sides. Probably the captaincy keeping him there at this point.
