Clarke and Proctor out of the tour. Dmac, Jordan, Roigard, Taylor all under a cloud.

How long will it take for World Rugby to click that the murderous schedule rugby players are on these days is not sustainable? The integrity of this tour is already in jeopardy - no one wants to see the Boks playing against the All Blacks midweek side, which is where we're heading if this attrition rate continues.

It's up to the sides to manage their players... it's not a hobby, it's their job.

Say what you like but the calendar is nuts, especially for test players.

For example, his Top 14, Champ's Cup and French appearances, push Louis Bielle-Biarrey to over 40 games over the last year.

That's one Saturday off out of every five.

What I do hear though is that turf pitches are apparently the biggest culprit when it comes to injuries. Not 100% confident in the info but apparently injury rates are 30-40% higher on turf.

"That's one Saturday off out of every five."

So he's getting paid half a million Euros a year for working less than one day a week?

Poor thing . . . one wonders how he's coping.

@Rooinek ja, for a winger it's probably not too bad. But what about playing in the pack?

Also, gym four times a week, train 3 or maybe 4 times a week, team meetings, constant travel, strict diet control, performance related stress...

Maybe I'm soft but it's a lot for a person to handle.

The one saving grace in all of it, and why I will ALWAYS swear by staying fit, is how mental and physical health are correlated.

Caleb Clarke is a big loss. Proctor was a dirt-tracker but Clarke would have started the tests or at least been on the bench.

Not sure you can blame the rugby schedule for a tendon rupture.
