After calming down and watching the rest of game, and then reading the comments here, there are three things that I'm annoyed by.
Firstly, Piardi. The guy is a clown. That's al most all I'll say. I know things aren't easy, but when you can't see obviously skew lineout throwing or an Ozzi pack that is lined up directly in line with our hooker at a lineout, then I have to wonder what exactly is going on. That's all I'll say though I have more complaints.
Secondly, as Pakie put in another post here, this team was basically set up to fail. We start with a front row that has almost never actually played together and whom individually had their last cap two months ago. Divvy suddenly starts after having been ignored for the last 6 weeks. AE and Moodie are suddenly called up to blow the Ozzies out of the water and when the hell last did the two of them start together? Fassi gets picked to start after showing zero form since forever. Louw starts ahead of Cam for some reason nobody understands and while Cam has been excellent every time he has played.
I'm not too concerned that guys are old, but what seriously annoys me is that people are chucked into these games in a combination that is almost a new team, and then players are said to have been given a "chance". Look at our starting pack. After all the musical chairs, for years now, we put out a "B" pack and they have almost no time together.
Thirdly, the thing annoys me most of all is the comments. Like, this player sucks and blew his chance. What chance? A chance to shine as an individual? Cos there is no base of synergy that these players that are given "chances" can work off of.
Suddenly we are missing Kriel, DDA and PSDT. Really!?
Bullshit. What we are missing is Cam who is better than PSDT actually being given a run of starts. For heaven's sake, he is clearly one of the best loosies in S.A. but has gotten one start this year, chucked in, all of a sudden, against England and then saw very minimal time against the ABs...where he was phenomenal every time. Or AE and Moodie who moonlight once in a while and are never ever given a run of games to build a partnership? What about Jaintjies? Booted into touch, and then suddenly starts away from home against Oz when Crappies finished the RGR with the MOTM performance?
Seriously, Pakie said it perfectly, it honestly feels like these guys are set up to fail. Not intentionally, but you look at the selections and the rhythm of those selections and you have to wonder what comments about these players are actually valid.
Yeah, Fassi is an error prone calamity at this point but he has been given many chances. And also as Paks said, we've been bemoaning his shyte form for two years now. And then Horn, who gets bundled into 10 against England and then sees zero game time until today when Fassi predictably fails, get his second "chance". "We've ignored you for most of the season Quan, but run on in the second half, play in your preferred position for the first time in a Bok jersey and do it with guys that you have no game time with." Fucking great.
But who else? Who else can you actually look at say that they are part of a combination that has had consistent faith shown in it and is still underperforming. I actually can't think of anyone.
This was a wasted game where yet again it was stupid selections masquerading as building continuity. Comments about any particular performances by players are basically pointless.
