Following their recent tour in the Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry series, ten All Blacks players are making their comeback to the National Provincial Championship (NPC) this week. After a challenging four-Test series in South Africa, which saw New Zealand clinching a victory with a 3-1 series win, these players are reintegrating into their provincial teams.
The Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry tour concluded with three of the tests held in South Africa, and the fourth in Baltimore, USA. Post-tour, several All Blacks had already rejoined their provincial squads, and now more are following suit as they prepare for the upcoming fixtures in the NPC.
Dave Rennie, the coach of the All Blacks, spoke about the importance of NPC play for the squad members. “This is vital time for our players to get quality game time, sharpen their skills, and bring their international experience back to their provinces,” Rennie expressed.

Looking ahead, the All Blacks are gearing up for the Bledisloe Cup where they will face Australia in consecutive tests next month. Rennie has curated an opportunity for his players to gain match fitness and form by participating in the NPC before these high-stakes games.
According to an announcement on the All Blacks’ official website, several players will feature in this week’s NPC games. The Tasman versus Bay of Plenty game at Nelson’s Trafalgar Park on Thursday will see five All Blacks players taking the field.
