Venter's job title has been modified multiple times since he rejoined Saracens at the start of the season, following Mark McCall. His latest designation is now "head of culture and technical director," a change confirmed by Saracens CEO Ed Coetzee.
Initially, Venter held the title "head of rugby culture and wine consultant" after his appointment as director of rugby. There was a brief period where Saracens argued that head coach Joe Shaw could manage the media duties, but this setup led to conflicts with Prem Rugby's expectations.
"Brendan’s role is best defined as head of culture and technical director, and with immediate effect, this will be his title," Coetzee stated, emphasizing the importance of Venter’s impact across the club.
Despite stepping back from some responsibilities, Venter will still face significant media engagements, including an upcoming interview with TNT on Sunday. Meanwhile, Shaw will continue handling the pre- and post-match interactions with the press.
Coetzee further elaborated on Venter’s crucial role in revitalizing the team's ethos both at the training ground and the StoneX Stadium. His influence is seen as pivotal in steering the club’s cultural direction.
This adjustment in Venter's responsibilities marks another chapter in his multifaceted career and reflects Saracens' strategic moves to align roles more closely with the club's operational needs and external obligations.
