Erasmus noted the strategic aspect of Feinberg-Mngomezulu's role, especially during key moments of the game. His decision to keep Sacha in the starting XV comes down to several tactical considerations.
"The game is different in the last 30 minutes when everybody’s a little bit tired and there are more gaps (to play in)," Erasmus explained.
He further commented on Sacha's defensive skills which are crucial when facing the fast-starting All Blacks. While acknowledging that Sacha has not yet regained his best form since returning from an injury, Erasmus remains confident in his abilities.
Adjustments were made when Cheslin Kolbe, another key player, suffered an injury in Soweto, prompting Feinberg-Mngomezulu to shift to full-back and Libbok to step in at fly-half. This change seemed to enhance the Boks' attack, particularly with the later addition of Morne van den Berg.

"Manie can come on after five minutes if Sacha gets injured and he can handle the pressure, but we might need him late in the game," said Erasmus.
This selection strategy leaves no room for Handre Pollard in the current 23-man squad. Pollard, a standout performer in the 2023 Rugby World Cup, had to withdraw from Test Two in Cape Town due to a calf injury. His absence extended through the series, though there is anticipation for his return in the upcoming match against Australia.
"We could have selected Handre," Erasmus admitted, hinting at strategic choices aimed at future fixtures. "We’ll probably play against Australia."
As the series progresses, Erasmus's decisions reflect a blend of cautious player management and strategic deployment, keeping the team's long-term success in view. With Pollard's expected return, the dynamics within the team may shift again, offering new tactical variations against their rivals.
