In previous seasons, Friday games would see team lineups announced just the day before, while Saturday and Sunday games would often only have a 24-hour lead time. The new system now allows a 48-hour window for weekend games.
"Rather than Friday and Saturday teams being announced on separate days, all 16 teams will now work to a co-ordinated Thursday announcement time," the URC officially stated, highlighting the effort to bring uniformity to the announcement schedule.
This strategic shift also aims to enhance the fan experience and media coverage, providing more time for the anticipation to build. "It should give broadcasters and clubs a longer runway to build hype and sell tickets," added the URC in their announcement.

"Announcing the team on Monday and then switching up the lineup last minute due to the weather was a tactical move, giving us a slight edge,” Erasmus explained.
Unlike the flexible regulations that applied during the Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry series, URC teams will no longer have the luxury of delayed announcements, which brings a new level of discipline and transparency to the proceedings.
