Pead fucking around again and gets his team trapped behind the gain line, and now his kick is charged.

Great carry by Francke and Brandon drops it in contact.

Brilliant try ABs. Can't argue with that. Might become a bit of a blowout now.

And Pead makes yet another mistake ...the ref literally screamed in his ear "Taken back in"...and then he box kicks its directly into touch

Would like to see that cleanout on Erich again, looked dodgy in real time.

Angus Gardener asks the scrum if they can do a bit of gardening.

Narawa over as four Lions converge on him and leave the inside wide open. Just soft moments like that have cost the Lions, so little structure in defense.

Fucking excellent game though. As always the Lions just not the personnel, too many weak spots but damn did they punch hard tonight. Respect.

Well done to the Lions locks as well, especially Delport who gave good account of himself after my early doubts. The guys showed up.

No wonder Pead is number 3 in the pecking order. We have too many nippy 9s, but SA rugby works when you have a technical 9 that can dictate the flow of the game and have command over the forwards. There is room for an attacking 9, but even Joost could do both.

Unfortunately Pead stock went down tonight. Another Grant Williams

Not a good outing but he may have been a little star struck by the All Blacks, I'm not fussed about it. He'll be back. Didn't do the Lions any favours though, they lost a lot when Steyn went off. Like many he had his soft moments but he was excellent for the most part.

@Pakie I want to see more of Pead, maybe to early to throw such a youngster at the all blacks, but maybe now is the time for them to hurt, hurt really bad.

2003 Eng World cup team was destroyed a few seasons earlier, then went on to win

2007 SA world cup boks got knocked out the quarters by NZ and beaten by England in 2003.

2011 All Blacks , got smashed in 2009 and went from there to win back to back

2015, Same All Black team but a very young and old SA team got knocked in the quarters and then dropped to 7 and then went on to win back to back

Wee kiwi ballarinas showed up by a depleted Lions side.
Boan is no power scrummager.
Smith at fly half was very good. Quan also impressive.
Nice pace from Lions 6

Depleted? That was virtually the Lions URC squad bar a few players out injured and Krappies with the Boks. I knew if they were going to play their natural game they would stack up some points, anyone who watched them in the URC up until the final weeks when they switched their approach would know how good they are ball in hand. Their defense, as ever, let them down. Just too many soft moments.

This reminds me of the Lion's game against the British Lions. They were incredible. I've only seen a sliver of the game, but my general impression is favorable. I'll try to watch the game later.

Tx for the commentary .... we'd some tech problems downunder, nothing live but saw replay. Lekker Lions restored some pride after sad performances from a our top trio.

I can’t believe Quan didn’t make the Bok side.....not even the bench.

Quan was the break-out player of the year. He was excellent for the entirety of the URC. Much like Willemse, he naturally understands balance very well. When to attack, when to secure and when to bring others in.

The guy is immune to making errors.

Here and there he makes decisions which aren't necessarily poor just perhaps not entirely optimal but you actually have to watch a few games to see him make a proper mistake.

And then you look at his defensive efforts too, he reads the game so friggin well. He made a plethora of crucial tackles last night again, and he does that every time he plays.

Wow so now after 10 min on Pead is suddenly a shit player - there are really some pathetic rugby supporters about

Mahashe simply has to be in the Bok squad - I have a feeling he is going to be another Roos, Dayamani or Notshe - should be but never will as he is too dynamic as a loosie

Mahashe is not only an athlete he reads the game so bloody well - an absolute gem of a player

Nobody is bashing Pead. Kid needs to learn, he is our only hope for a 9 as all the other are crap, but when you get 25 min with the game in front and making 3 critical errors to allow the game to slip.

Not saying is solely responsible.
A lot was down that one Winget that couldn't tackle. A lot of soft tries which is not his fault, but when your defence is so weak then you have to up the attack to make up for it
