No I just like a decent debate, I am a bit clueless to why you're taking so much offence to this? I've always concentrated to the overall picture to where Goosen has played and never stuck to either the Top 14 or the European Championship.
Yes, I know you've only made the spreadsheet for the Top 14, but when you make a sweeping statement such as:"Goosen's best games for RM so far was when he started at 15. Coincidently, that was also where he had most of his full games as well."It's qives off the impression that you've given a general assessment and not stuck to just the Top 14. It just so happens to be completely wrong as well.
Goosen is obviously not seen as a fullback by the Racing Metro coach, it doesn't matter if he's had more game time at fullback than at flyhalf when you take into account the decision behind him playing fullback, The unavailability of Dulin for one reason or another.
Also FYI you're spreadsheet is wrong, I've taken the time out to make my own spread sheet with the amount of time he spent at flyhalf
Top 14Round 2 = 19 minutesRound 3 = 30 minutesRound 4 = 31 minutes (Injured, definitely would have had more time at Flyhalf)Round 8 = 80 minutesRound 9 = 65 minutesRound 12 = 80 minutesRound 17 = 80 minutesRound 18 = 13 minutesRound 21 = 8 minutesRound 22 = 22 minutes
That equals to 428 total minutes at Flyhalf, you missed 100 minutes when making your spread sheet if we don't take into account the 21st and 22nd Round's.
Here's the European Championship numbers as well for good measure
1st game = 1 minutes2nd game= 80 minutes3rd game = 80 minutes4th game = 9 minutes Quarter final = 4 minutes
So that's 174 minutes at flyhalf.
Turns out he didn't actually play the 6th pool game, he was in the initial team sheet but was a last minute withdrawal due to injury.
Going back to the Top 14, 428 minutes at flyhalf compared to 240 minutes at fullback with 668 total minutes of game time gives as an approximate ratio of 65% of his time spent at flyhalf and 35% at fullback.

So on reflection Goosen has played more minutes at flyhalf, as well as having his best games there and being the definitive 2nd choice behind Sexton. Not seen as a fullback whatsoever a part from when there's no other option.

Shezza
You have no chance to win an argument with the donkeybrains of Mozart and Ceradunce. When caught out they change the subject and as you can see 65% is quickly changed to 50% when it suits the dunce.

Way too early to tell about Goosen. I'm glad he is playing in France. Hopefully he will be better managed and get his confidence and fitness back properly. If he stayed at the Cheaters, he would probably have been played into the ground. French rugby is hard enough for him not to get soft over there.

The only reason he ever got any gametime at fullback was due to Dulin not being available because of either injuries or national team commitments, fact.
Racing Metro are a team with a lot of money, of course they're not going to miss the chance to sign Dan Carter and with both Carter and Goosen being quite injury prone they're going to need cover, in comes Remi Tales.
65% close to 50%?! Are you mad? 15% is a huge difference and funny enough it's in the middle of both our predictions.
You do realise my guess of 80% was just that, a guess? It wasn't until deeper into this argument that I began to do some research.
It's incredibly rich you accusing me of nitpicking when you've just nitpicked on a single word I used in my third comment on this thread.
Despite this do really believe the Racing Metro coach see's Goosen as a fullback? Because all the evidence suggests otherwise.

You've have nitpicked on the words "Match time"...
And my data is a lot more reliable and accurate than yours, you missed 100 minutes of gametime at flyhalf and to see how sure of yourselfyou were that your information was right... Greater the rise, greater the fall...
"Much closer to the truth"I estimated the percentage Goosen was at fullback on memory... And then it turned out that we were both wrong and that the real answer was in the middle of my guess and your calculation...
By that comment you're quite obviously insinuating that the RM coach, by picking him at 15, see's him as a fullback

Dont forget Ollie le Roux. Think he spent over 50 tests on the bench
And Hanyene Shimangi
Brent Russell also spent a while on the bench.

I remember Russell scoring that incredible try against Oz....leaping up like Antaeus , twice as strong, after being tackled and hitting the ground. A talent we couldn't decipher.

Russell was the Willie of his day, our coaches the cavemen of their day. Played in the worst era of Bok rugby.

The worst era of Bok rugby was when they had duds like the Steyns at flyhalf and inside center. The dolts who think Morne was a flyhalfs ass cannot get away from the fact that he together with Francois Steyn were responsible for self-destruction of backline play.
You cannot have two players incapable of reading games and making decisions in those two positions. Lucky for the Springboks both seems to be out of consideration - one can never trust Meyer though, he may yet come up with rubbish selections.
